EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a therapy used to help people with overcoming trauma.

Most of our memories are stored away in our brain, such as a holiday or what you had for breakfast, and they don't impact our day to day lives. We may forget some details but, if we want to, we can open the filing cabinet in our brain to try to recall where we went or what we ate.

When we experience a trauma or stressful life event, the memory of the event isn't stored in the same way. It isn't filed away, which leads it to create problems and unwanted symptoms in the present day.

Symptoms could include, but is not limited to: anxiety, chest tightness, nightmares, feeling that what happened isn't real, tension, aches and pains, headaches, low immune system and more. Symptoms can last for years after a traumatic event.

EMDR works by using bi-latural / side by side actions (through eye movements or tapping) to activate the traumatic memory so that it can be reprocessed and filed away, reducing symptoms in the now and greatly improving quality of life.

What I Can Offer

I am currently training as an EMDR Therapist through an accredited course.

Having received a certificate of completion of Part 1 of the training, I am able to offer EMDR Therapy for single event traumas, such as a car accident, sexual assault or if you've witnessed a traumatic incident, for example.

Whilst I am continuing training, I can offer EMDR Therapy at a reduced rate of £40 per session, which is a 33% discount off my usual rate.
